The Construction Site Safety Training course is designed to train construction employees on
the standard practice to ensure safety. Construction sites are one of the most demanding
workplaces and adhering to the safety protocols is an absolute must.
In this in-depth training course, you’ll receive practical knowledge on the laws regarding
safety protocols at the workplace, project risk assessment and management as well as various
incidents associated with construction sites.
By the end of this course, you’ll have an excellent understanding of how to enforce healthy
and safety measures in construction projects. You’ll also receive up-to-date information on
emergency procedures suggested under Singapore construction safety guidelines.
By upgrading construction personnel with a BCA approved training course like CoreTrade, employers will pay a lower levy rate and extended maximum period of employment. Instead of 14 years for a Basic-Skilled Worker, Higher-Skilled Workers actually have their period of employment extended to a maximum of 26 years!

This scheme allows quality workers, who may not have acquired the necessary years of local
construction experience but are highly skilled, to upgrade to “Higher Skilled” R1
construction workers.
Employers will have greater flexibility in deploying higher skilled workers on-site, hence
reducing the downtime and improving their productivity.
The R1 eligibility status is valid for 2 years [i.e. The 1st expiry date shall be 2 years
from the date of the SEC(K) test]. Application for renewal can be submitted online 3 months
before the date of expiry. To renew their skill status, workers are also required to attend
a Continuing Education and Training (CET) related to their SEC(K) trade.
The CET is a half-day course covering the latest codes and regulations, good practices, and
demonstration of new methods, materials, tools and equipment relevant to the specific
construction trades and/or areas of responsibility of the registered personnel.
Renewing the work permit for domestic workers is not something complicated, but at the same
time, it is certainly not something quick and easy either. The work permit renewal process
can be done by the employer, sponsor or the authorised employment agencies. If employers
renew the work permit on their own, they could avoid paying for the agency fee which is
usually ranging from $300 to $400.
However, it is important to pay extra attention to the details to avoid accidental breaching
of the law. This might not be easy sometimes especially for employers who are doing the
renewal for the first time. Fortunately, Samsui offers the work permit renewal
service which can save you time and effort.
